I absolutely adore everything about Ava's. I've been here many times and the whole experience is always wonderful. I've ordered everything from the cheese plate to pizzas to lamb and squash ravioli and I have never been disappointed. They have options for everyone, including vegan options. The pizzas are always fantastic with quality ingredients right down to the flour itself. I used to be able to say I had tried all of their pizzas but they've expanded the menu so now there are even more scrumptious options. In addition to the food, Ava's prides itself on a lengthy and varied craft beer selection. They also have guest bartenders who create new craft cocktails weekly with unique and flavorful ingredients. Ava's has specials every week that they call Daily Offerings and they post them on Instagram so it's good to check before you go!

Fair warning: the long hots on the sausage pie are HOT.

The cocktails were great! Food was good but way overpriced for the quality. The beer selection was solid. Service was good.

Now the cons- it's not a kid friendly place. No high chairs. It was kind of funny because when the hostess said "oh we don't have high chairs," all the people sitting at the bar turned... their necks practically snapped. I guess they wanted to see  what we would say?  They sat us by the door away from the other patrons. This isn't the first restaurant that has done that- something we didn't know was a thing until we became new parents. We came during lunch hour when it was pretty empty. I do understand to an extent why restaurants do that but our baby was a perfect gentlemen and sat peacefully and ate his lunch on our lap but it would have been cool to have him in his own chair at the table with us. I wish it was more family friendly.

I asked if I could get some kind of aioli or sauce to dip my fries in- I like something other than ketchup. I was told any sauces or dips on the menu only come with that food item. They can't give it to you separate. A bit pretentious but then again that's just what this place is ‍

I would maybe return for cocktails without the little one but meh... there are plenty family friendly spots with great cocktails I'd rather bring my business to.

We heard so much about Ava's and were eager to try it out.

    First all the good things...
    - Great beer menu with a ton of local offerings
    - Great atmosphere and decor
    - Great service - we were going to order the celery root tagliatelle and were gently directed elsewhere.  I love a server that knows what the kitchen executes well and what they still need to work on.
    - Good food quality - we had the 5 Cheese and Sausage Pizza and the Cauliflower Kung Pao to start with.  Also added 2 arancini (rice balls) which were excellent.

Now the items that need some attention...
    - We dined on a Wednesday night around 5:45.  The sun was glaring into the restaurant so any seat facing the street was blinded.  The windows need retractable shades.
    - Really small portions and prices that made dishes not such a good value.  12.00 for Cauliflower??  Come on guys...it's what...1/2 a head of cauliflower??  We'll never order again.
    - The pizzas were good but very light on toppings.  I don't need a pie that lands with a thud but at 18.00 for a 12" it just wasn't a good value.

And this was what was really annoying...
When we arrived, we were greeted at the door by a host or manager.  Nice guy.  We were directed to a VERY small 2-top and asked to be seated at a larger table.  We were refused.  I can understand if this was a busy night and the restaurant was on a wait.  But this was 5:45 on a Wednesday and we were 1 of only 3 tables.  There was more staff than customers. We sat at the 2 top and quickly realized it was too small.  We resat ourselves at a longer table in the bar area - which had been offered at the beginning.  Honestly, if the bar table hadn't been available we would have left.  The 2-top would never have held 2 water glasses, 2 beer glasses, 2 plates, 2 pizzas.  This is a pizza place - not a sandwich shop.

Bottom line...glad we went and we will return. Maybe for a drink in the bar or a burger but the experience wasn't as great as I was expecting and we aren't rushing back.

I found this restaurant through yelp. It had good reviews and was a close meet up point for me and my friend. There was parking right next the restaurant, so that was perfect. We walked into the restaurant, and were seated immediately. The place was super cute. They had some great specials for the day, so we ordered some tacos (pork & vegetarian) and some margaritas. The food came extremely quickly and the food was delicious! Not only was the place extremely cute, but the food came out quickly. The since we got things from the daily specials, we got them pretty inexpensive, i'm not sure about the pricing for the rest of the menu. I would definitely recommend and go back!

So I've been here a few times in the past month ...

Over all I kinda like this place. I prefer to come during the day when it's not busy.

I have a place at the bar that I tend to gravitate to because of comfort and natural light.

Staff is pretty nice and attentive to me.

I like the inside - has a modern rustic feel to it

1st time I came- I tried two drinks - the spring fling and the skinny dip and I enjoyed them both very much. I also tried the grilled buffalo chicken sandwich which was pretty good

Next time I tried the octopus off the old menu. It was light and just ok. It actually looked different than other photos I've see of it - it was also the last day they were serving it before for summer menu came out.

Last time I came - I tried the street corn and the panelle. It was ok but I like how the dishes are put together

I am very interested in trying more items off the menu.

I like that there are likable vegetarian items on the menu in case you aren't in the mood for meat/poultry.

I know I will be back soon
